The Companion launch – 19th July 2017
I will be launching my debut novel in the beautiful old Baptist chapel in the Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge on Wednesday 19th July from 7pm.
I’m really looking forward to talking about my inspirations for The Companion and how it came to be written. I will also be reading excerpts from the book for the very first time.
The Book Case will be there selling copies of the book and refreshments will be available, including Billy’s birthday Burnt Sugar cake.
Bradford Literature Festival – 1st July 2017
There are some fantastic events on at Bradford Literature Festival which runs from 30th June to 9th July.
I’m very pleased to be taking part this year. On Saturday 1st July at 11am in the Dye House gallery I will be discussing all things ‘Gothic Yorkshire’ with Ben Myers and Sophia Tobin. The panel will be chaired by Michael Stewart.
“The eerie moors and industrial towns of Yorkshire have inspired generations of writers. Popularised in the writings of the Brontës, the landscapes of the Yorkshire moors have come to embody both the austere beauty and destructive capabilities of nature and have long been harnessed as the perfect setting for the stark chill and menacing darkness of a truly gothic novel.
Equally, the brooding architecture of its industrial towns provide just the right amount of shadow, suggesting things unseen and unspoken that hide within the smoke.
This event will analyse what it is about Yorkshire that has led to it becoming the quintessential setting of the gothic genre.”
Tickets are available from the the Bradford Literature Festival website along with the full programme of events
